returns to Chapter with an emotionally charged
performance based on the controversial topic of
Hindu widowhood. White Shadow gives an insight
into the heart wrenching injustice, trauma and
institutionalised plight Hindu widows have to
bear. Their fate, which is determined by the male-dominated
society, is conveniently veiled by the politicians
and fundamentalists under the pretext of Hindu
religion. Madhvi integrates documentary video
by film-maker Aparna Sharma with dance, speech
and live music to sensitively open the layers
of the wound of this religio-political injustice
